The quality of life in women with climacteric syndrome
The article describes the impact of menopause, hormone replacement therapy and phytoestrogens on quality of life of women. We analyzed the methods of quality of life studies, represented in Russian and foreign publications. Then we carried out monitoring of quality of life parameters in women with mild climacteric syndrome receiving soy isoflavones during 12 months.
The general RAND SF-36 questionnaire was used. It was shown that in a year after the beginning of therapy the role physical functioning, general health, vitality, social, role emotional functioning and psychological health improved significantly. We also distributed a special Woman Health Questionnaire (WHQ) to our patients.
Along with positive changes in somatic and vasomotor symptoms, sleeping and attractiveness, the inventory revealed increased depression, anxiety/fears, sexual disorders, deterioration of memory and attention. Thus, it is necessary to assign additional methods of treatment of the revealed disorders that appear along with the therapy with soy isoflavones.
